Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova reached the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Hertogenbosch (Netherlands).
In the quarterfinals, the 26-year-old Russian woman, seeded at the tournament under the first number, defeated the 17-year-old Swiss Celine Nef, the 202nd racket of the world, with a score of 6:3, 6:2.
Her next opponent will be Slovak Victoria Grunchakova (144th in the WTA rankings).
Venus Williams loses her first WTA match in five months
Nef played in the main draw for the first time at a WTA tournament. In the first round, she defeated seven-time Grand Slam singles champion American Venus Williams.
Kudermetova is the 14th racket of the world and the second – of Russia. She has one WTA title to her credit. The best result of an athlete in the Grand Slam tournaments is reaching the quarterfinals of Roland Garros 2022.
Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova and Belarusian Aleksandra Sasnovich will play in the second semi-final.
The tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch will end on June 18. The prize fund of the competition is €225.48 thousand.
The betting company Fonbet accepts bets on Alexandrova’s victory with a coefficient of 1.38, Sasnovich – 3.05.
