There are unmistakable signs. Proof of the symbolic importance of the event: no less than three ministers made the trip this Thursday, June 29 to Grenoble (Isère). Roland Lescure (Industry), Olivia Grégoire (SME, Trade, Crafts and Tourism), and Carole Grandjean (Vocational Education and Training) were indeed alongside the founders of Verkor to inaugurate the innovation center of the company created in 2020 .
This ostentatious support is no accident. Verkor, which is in the process of building its first gigafactory of electric batteries in Dunkirk (North), represents both a challenge for industrial sovereignty and the country’s energy transition. “It is a symbol of the green reindustrialization of France, which shows that we can reconcile ecology and economy», rejoices Roland Lescure. The government has set itself the goal of producing two million electric vehicles in France per year by 2030, 25% of which will be equipped with batteries from the start-up.
