German union Verdi called on its members to go on strike at five Amazon fulfillment centers across Germany on Black Friday, it said in a statement Thursday.

The centers concerned are in Koblenz, Leipzig, Rheinberg, Dortmund and Bad Hersfeld, Mr. Verdi said.
The U.S. company has repeatedly said salaries, benefits and career prospects are “excellent.”
“It’s not for nothing that half of our colleagues have worked for us for more than five years,” an Amazon spokesperson said Thursday.
