ARLINGTON, Va., July 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Venture Global LNG issued the following statement today following the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) received a favorable Final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for CP2 LNG, Venture Global’s third project had exhibited.
“Venture Global thanks the Commission and the other contributing agencies of the National Environmental Policy Act, particularly the US. Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Energy, the Coast Guard, the United States Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and the National Marine Fisheries Service for their hard work in completing the final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for CP2 LNG,” said Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global LNG, “This is an important regulatory milestone for the project, opening the door for a Commission vote and the start of construction later this year. CP2 continues to have robust commercial and financial momentum. Approximately half of the project is complete This export facility will be critical to long-term energy security and emissions reductions in both Europe and Asia for many years to come.”
To date, 9.25 Mtpa of CP2’s 20 Mtpa notional capacity has been sold under 20 year sale and purchase agreements. Discussions are currently being held for the remaining capacity. More than half of the contractually agreed capacity was awarded to German and Japanese customers. CP2 LN customers include ExxonMobil, Chevron, JERA, New Fortress Energy, INPEX, China Gas, EnBW and SEFE.
