The Vente Venezuela political party, led by María Corina Machado, announced on Monday that it is willing to compete in an electoral contest, but that in order to defeat Chavismo “first you have to defeat the false and complicit opposition.”

“We are willing to measure ourselves because Venezuela needs a political leadership and a leadership that does not give in and does not give up and that keeps its word and its commitment,” said the opposition leader through a video on her Twitter account. Machado insisted that many opponents “have surrendered” and accused them of being traitors, for which he assured that they will confront the government of Nicolás Maduro, and “his accomplices” in all necessary fields.

This announcement is the result of the party’s seventh federal meeting that brought together leaders from all over the country and in which they agreed to ratify that they believe in winning back the vote.

“We want to ratify that we are not going to allow what they are looking for: to whitewash the face of the regime. That we are not going to be complacent with any of his accomplices, that we are not going to fall into traps, but that we are not going to sit idly by either, “he said.

Vente Venezuela’s coordinator called on citizens “to fight relentlessly” to defeat “tyranny.”

Primary elections

The anti-Chavista bloc meeting in the Unitarian Platform announced on May 16 that it will choose an opposition presidential candidate through primary elections that it plans to hold in 2023.

“The presidential candidate of the democratic forces will be chosen by a broad and plural primary process that will take place in the year 2023,” the alliance said in a statement.

However, Machado did not clarify whether his party will participate in the opposition primaries.
