Tuesday evening, an exceptional tide covered part of the sidewalks of Venice. Venice’s famous Piazza San Marco was covered by a meter of water. This is only the third time that a phenomenon of such magnitude has taken place since 1872.

Bad luck for the tourists who had come to admire the canals and who had to wade through the alleys in several centimeters of water. The famous basilica in Piazza San Marco, meanwhile, was spared thanks to a glass belt inaugurated a few months ago.
