Venezuelans abroad organize to support during the elections of July 28

Thousands of Venezuelans abroad will organize on July 28 to support migrants who will be able to vote in Venezuela’s presidential elections.

David Smolanski, former mayor of the municipality of El Hatillo and former commissioner of the Organization of American States (OAS), explained the actions that the Venezuelan community abroad will carry out to support the election day despite the fact that they cannot vote in these elections.

“July 28 is being seen as a mobilizing milestone and this great mobilization will serve to start a transition that will lead us to democracy. Not having the opportunity to vote does not mean that we will not have a voice. The diaspora will make itself heard on July 28,” Smolanski said in an interview for Infobae on July 23rd.

He recalled that only 69,000 Venezuelans, of the nearly 8 million who are abroad, will have the opportunity to vote in these presidential elections.

How will they support voters abroad?

Marcos Garzón, member of the Great National Alliance of the Command with Venezuela in Chile, explained in an interview for the The newspaper, On July 5, 25 polling station witnesses were trained to defend the votes of voters at the Chilean Embassy in the southern country.

We are organizing ourselves in unity in Chile to guarantee the votes,” added Garzón.

He confirmed that the command will be outside the Chilean Embassy from the early hours of July 28 until the total votes are counted.

In Argentina, Venezuelan citizens will also organize a special event at the Venezuelan Consulate in Buenos Aires on Election Day, which will include a migrant fair.
