Venezuelan woman rescued in Ecuador in operation against human trafficking

Ecuadorian police reported on Monday regarding the intervention of its officers in an operation in which two teenagers were rescued, one Ecuadorian and one Venezuelanvictims of trafficking.

The incident occurred in the province of El Oro, bordering Peru.

The agents involved are part of the Unit once morest Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrantswho found the teenagers following receiving an alert that the victims had left without their consent.

According to authorities, the girls were tricked into being taken to Peru, but the transfer ultimately failed.

Ecuadorian police carried out the rescue just before the minors were taken taken under false promises to the Peruvian city of Tumbes.

Non-governmental organizations have warned regarding the rise in cases of human trafficking, especially in the case of those vulnerable sectors that seek new and better opportunities.
