This Sunday, Venezuelan Rosa Rodríguez will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be her fourth time participating in major world events, making her a true veteran of these events.
She will be attending the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, where she will take part in the women’s hammer throw, a competition that will bring together the 32 best athletes in the world.
Her main goal will be to finish among the top eight in order to win an Olympic diploma, something that eluded her in her three previous participations in athletics competitions at the world’s top event.

The 38-year-old from Lara made her debut in London 2012, where she finished 22nd after achieving a distance of 67.34 metres (m).
Four calendars later, in Rio 2016, she achieved her best performance by finishing in tenth place. She did so after setting a mark of 69.26 m.
This Barquisimetan, born on June 2, 1986, was also in Tokyo 2020 – which took place in 2021 due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – and could not emulate what was done in Rio de Janeiro, since with a record of 68.23 m she was placed in 22nd place.
Award-winning athlete
Rodríguez, who was the tenth of 33 natives to secure her spot in Paris 2024, is an award-winning hammer thrower who hopes to make a name for herself in the tournament organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
According to Aloys Marín, a journalist from the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV), the twilight-born athlete was the champion of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games and has two gold medals in Ibero-American competitions (2008 and 2012). In addition, she holds the national record with 73.64 m. She established that record in 2013.
The Venezuelan athlete, who is ranked fifteenth in the World Athletics rankings, hopes to make history in France. If she succeeds, it will be a great joy for fans in Venezuela, a country currently undergoing a political crisis.
