Movistar confirmed on Wednesday the signing for the next two seasons of Venezuelan Orluis Aular, a cyclist for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for the last two seasons and six-time national champion, twice in the road race and four times in the individual time trial, which he also won this year.
Aular (Nirgua, 1996) joins the team led by Eusebio Unzué after victories in professional events such as the last Matteotti Trophy, Limousin, the final classification of the CRO Race or the general classifications of the Vuelta al Alentejo and Torres Vedras.
His list of achievements includes the 2023 Central American Games and two second places in world tour events, the penultimate stage of the 2024 Itzulia and the seventh stage of La Vuelta 2023, where only the Frenchman Geoffrey Soupe beat him in the mass sprint.
Movistar recalled that Orluis Aular takes over from José Rujano, a member of the Abarca Sports team in 2008, as the second Venezuelan talent to join its ranks.

“I never imagined I would make it to the WorldTour. I always had the goal of taking it step by step. I wanted to get to Europe, and thanks to Jesús Rodríguez Magro I was able to compete in Spain with EC Cartucho. I then moved to Belgium for two years, a place where I learned a lot; from there I moved to Japan; and from there I achieved my goal of at least being a ProConti with Caja Rural, to whom I am very grateful for the opportunity they gave me at the time,” said Aular.
The cyclist said that “it has been years of hard work and dedication to have this great opportunity with Movistar Team,” where he will continue “trying to be a versatile rider and showing” that he has “room for improvement.”
“It makes me very happy and, at the same time, it brings out a lot of feelings, because it hasn’t been easy at all. 2024 has been my best year. Season after season I have been improving, and this year I have been able to maintain a lot of consistency in performance and results, with the desire to reach the WorldTour. I think that desire has driven me to work like never before,” he added.
