A motorcycle taxi driver of Venezuelan origin received five bullet wounds on Wednesday morning, in the district of Chorrillos, in Peru.

According to police information, which was released in the local media, the attack occurred when the Venezuelan refused to pay a quota of five soles a day (just over a dollar) to the extortionist. These require that amount to allow motorcycle taxi drivers to provide their services in the area.

The wounded Venezuelan was identified as Luis Alexander Galindo Carranza, 32 years old.

A criminal on board a linear motorcycle intercepted Galindo Carranza, who had left a passenger. The attacker fled following shooting the motorcycle taxi driver, according to América Noticias.

“Immediately, the witnesses and residents of the area went to the mototaxi, license plate 9884OA, to help the wounded man and take him to the nearest hospital. The state of health of Luis Alexander is critical, indicated the morning”, quoted by Journal Mail.

The nationality of the attacker is unknown.
