Venezuelan Meat Council renewed its board

He Venezuelan Meat Council (Convecar) held its annual meeting and renewed its board of directors for the new period 2024-2026.

In this regard, Luis Eduardo Pérez Stüve was re-elected as president; Carlos Hellmund Fonseca, as vice president; while Carlos Rojas Troconis was appointed treasurer of the institution.

After being sworn in as re-elected president, Pérez Stuve reiterated his pride in defending principles and values, including private property, respect for the law and the free market. “Without this, the sector would not have the possibility of becoming dynamic,” he said, according to a NDP.

He also reported that there are currently more than 125,000 agricultural producers in Venezuela, who provide more than 700,000 direct jobs and more than three million direct and indirect jobs.

According to the end-of-period report, the annual slaughter in the country is in the order of 1,500,000 cattle and they estimate no less than 12 kilograms of meat per capita.

“The agricultural and livestock sector is the main employer in more than 17 states of the country and today contributes nearly 5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” reiterated the recently re-elected president of Convecar.
