Venezuelan Lilibeth Chacón was crowned champion of the women’s Vuelta a Colombia this Sunday for the third time after winning titles in 2021 and 2023.
Portugal’s Daniela Campos, from Eneicat-CM, won the sixth and final stage today, a 28.1-kilometer individual time trial in the city of Valledupar, with a time of 37 minutes and 35 seconds.
Canadian Nadia Gontova (DNA Pro Cycling) finished just a few thousandths behind, and Colombian Lorena Villamizar (Boneshaker Project) completed the podium one minute and 17 seconds behind the winner.
Key moment
Venezuelan Chacón (Pato Bike BMC) took the lead of the competition on Saturday after winning the fifth stage.
This Sunday he crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 39:25.66.
After the Sunday stage, Chacón took first place with a cumulative time of 17 hours, 7 minutes and 13 seconds. The podium was completed by Canadian Nadia Gontova, with 17h07:34 and Colombian Estefania Herrera, with 17h10:35.
On August 25, 2024, the closing stage of the Vuelta a Colombia Femenina was held with a 28.1-kilometer individual time trial, which began and ended in Valledupar.
