Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil on Sunday called the Colombian NGO Electoral Observation Mission (MOE) a fraud after it said that, when comparing the records released by the opposition with the official data of the National Electoral Council (CNE), there is “no possibility” that Nicolás Maduro has been re-elected.
«This is a ‘fake’, a so-called mission that has not come to Venezuela, that uses false data, of which there has already been evidence that it is a scam. This mission is one more scam.“, the official wrote on the social network X.
The Mission indicated that “by contrasting the information that emerges from the database built by the MOE“, based on the minutes published by the opposition, with data from the CNE, “The votes remaining to be counted in the missing minutes are not sufficient to alter» the result that gives «the victory of the candidate Edmundo González Urrutia».
In its exercise, the organization pointed out that, after reviewing the data contained in 73.1% of the electoral records, González Urrutia obtained 6,392,350 votes (67.2%), while Maduro obtained 2,891,553 ballots (30.4%).
According to the second bulletin issued on Friday by the CNE, the results of which are questioned by the opposition and a large part of the international community, with 96.87% of the votes counted, Maduro obtained 51.95% of the votes, compared to 43.18% of support obtained by González Urrutia.
