Venezuelan Foreign Minister Responds to Statements by Carter Center Representatives

The Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yvan Gilresponded to statements made by representatives of the Carter Center on the election results of July 28, last Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Gil rejected this and pointed out that Jennie Lincolh “blatantly lies” through her official account on X.

@CarterCenter “All the work and prestige that President Jimmy Carter built is thrown into the trash by this State Department employee. Mrs. Jennie Lincoln lies shamelessly, none of her words correspond to reality or Venezuelan legality,” he posted on X.

He also said that this institution should not be involved in an alleged coup d’état, nor support electoral crimes committed by fascist groups, adding that these groups will not return.

«There is no evidence that Venezuela’s electoral system was the target of a cyber attack during the July 28 elections“, he added.

International observers from the Carter Center, invited by the National Electoral Council (CNE) to observe the presidential elections in Venezuela, confirmed on August 7 that opposition candidate Edmundo González won the elections.

Companies monitor and know when there are denials of service (hackings) and there was not one that night. The transmission of voting data is by telephone line and satellite phone and not by computer. They have not lost data.“Lincoln explained.
