Venezuelan dies after snake bite in Darién

He was a firefighter and had returned from Peru this year.

A young man died following being bitten by a snake while crossing the Darién, a jungle that separates Colombia and Panama, in an attempt to reach the US border.

The victim was Venezuelan, and it was also known that he had a firefighter occupation. He was traveling with a group of friends, with whom he had already shared other moments in La Guaira.

Luis Andrés Riera was 28 years old. The relatives were notified by the companions of the tour in the Darién. He was from Naiguatá.

Riera had already emigrated to Peru in 2018, but returned to the country in 2022. Until very recently, they indicated, it was that he made the decision to cross the jungle and try to reach the US border area.

The young man had no children, according to La Verdad de Vargas.
