The criminal escaped through the tunnel of the Tocorón prison following a police operation was activated to regain control of the establishment that was in the hands of the criminal gang.

The main ringleader of the infamous ‘Aragua Train’ would currently be in Peruvian territory. Héctor Guerrero escaped following the Government of Venezuela activated the ‘Operation to Liberate Cacique Guaicaipuro’ plan in the Tocoron prison. The authorities identified that the most important criminal guidelines came from this prison that would be replicated internationally by the members of this gang.

The operation to capture ‘Niño Guerrero’ and his accomplices included the detection of clandestine corridors inside the prison, which was confirmed by Remigio Ceballos, a prominent member of the leadership of the Venezuelan dictatorship. “We detected some tunnels. “We have prevented a massive escape and we have controlled all those deprived of liberty, in addition to capturing some people with weapons.” reported the Minister of the Interior and Justice.

Given this, journalists reported that security agents discovered a series of tunnels that were allegedly used by criminals to enter and leave the prison clandestinely.

In response to these events, the Venezuelan dictatorship announced that the Tocorón penitentiary center will be completely vacated due to a “restructuring process,” without providing additional details regarding this measure.

Héctor Guerrero is one of the main leaders of the criminal gang ‘Tren de Aragua’. The individual was born in Maracay, Venezuela, in December 1983. His criminal career began early, since at the age of 17 he was accused of being a micro-marketer of drugs and faced a series of complaints for attacking police officers.

In 2012 he managed to escape from prison, but the following year he was captured in the state of Lara, where he was involved in home invasions. Despite his imprisonment since then, in 2015 he was seen during a party held in the Maracay neighborhood, which at that time was under the control of the Aragua Train.

The Venezuelan journalist and researcher Ronna Rísquez, author of the book “El Tren de Aragua: The gang that revolutionized organized crime in Latin America”, spoke with Infobae Perú and mentioned that Tocorón houses almost 5 thousand inmates and is known as the ‘Casa Big’.

Rísquez revealed that in Tocorón there are surprising amenities, such as nightclubs, swimming pools, playgrounds, casinos, restaurants with terraces, bars and liquor dispensers, as well as ATMs and even a zoo with jaguars, pumas and other exotic animals, all financed with the money generated by criminal activities.

The first business of the ‘Aragua Train’ was blackmailing prisoners. After that, it has developed a hierarchical structure both inside and outside the prison. Using the migration crisis as a tool, the organization expanded throughout South America, establishing networks and taking over unauthorized border crossings through coercion, blackmail and corruption.

Intelligence teams are deployed in the border area to prevent the entry into national territory of Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known in the underworld as ‘Niño Guerrero’. This was announced by the general commander of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), General Jorge Luis Angulo Tejada, in an interview with Radio Nacional.

“The action and reaction is immediate, we have intelligence teams, photography equipment there in the border area, so that we can warn of any strange movement that might prevent the entry of this subject,” the authority indicated.
