The Panamanian authorities reported that there are minors among the migrants.
A man of Venezuelan nationality was captured in the vicinity of the Darién, a jungle that divides Colombia and Panama, and which registers a greater transit of migrants as part of their journey to the US border.
The subject was a “coyote”, whose main function is to be a guide in exchange for money in the crossing of said area.
The National Border Service of Panama (Senafront) reported the capture in the Anachucuna area, Comarca Guna Yala.
The Panamanian authorities indicated that the man is being accused of abandoning a group of 15 people midway, including minors.
The Darién represents a dangerous area, and it is estimated that more than 44,000 Venezuelans have crossed it so far this year, according to the Organization of American States (OAS).
