Venezuelan athletes arrive in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games

The Venezuelan Olympic Committee reported that Venezuelan athletes, qualified for the Olympic Games (OG) Paris 2024, began arriving at the Village that will host them during the competition.

Of the 33 athletes who secured their ticket to the Olympics, weightlifter Julio Mayora and judoka Anriquelis Barrios were among the first to arrive in the French capital on July 20.

The same was true for shooter Leonel Martínez, who returned to the Olympic stage 40 years later to begin his training at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.

On July 21, it was the turn of boxers Omailyn Alcalá and Jesús Cova, and the fencing team composed of Rubén, Jesús and Francisco Limardo along with Gabriel Lugo.

On July 22, swimmers Alberto and Alfonso Mestre joined the other athletes.

The Venezuelan representation qualified in at least 10 disciplines of the competition that begins on July 26 and ends on August 11.

The opening ceremony will be celebrated with a parade of boats on the Seine. This is the first time that the event will be held outside a stadium.

Olympic Village

The Olympic Village The Olympic Games officially opened its doors on Thursday, July 18, to welcome the first athletes who will participate in the sporting event. The first delegations to arrive were from Colombia, Thailand, Australia and Mexico.

The complex, located in the north of the French capital, covers an area of ​​52 hectares and will accommodate around 14,500 people, of whom 9,000 will be athletes, 4,000 will participate as workers and 1,500 will be volunteers.

As the host country, France chose its own building. The 624 athletes in the French delegation will have a private training room of 170 square metres.

Paris 2024 Olympic Games

At least 329 events will be held in 762 sessions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Nearly half of the tickets for the competition will cost 50 euros or less, the organizing committee announced in March.

The cheapest tickets will cost 24 euros. The organisers said there are almost 10 million tickets for the traditional Olympics and another 3.4 million for the Paralympics. The minimum price will be 15 euros.

French Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra stressed that the entire team is “firmly committed to delivering a great opening ceremony, both for the French people and for spectators around the world.”
