(CNN Spanish) — The Venezuelan Army evacuates 384 people from the Bulla Loca mine, three days following the collapse that left at least 16 dead.

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces of Venezuela (FANB) began this Friday the evacuation of the illegal Bulla Loca mine, located in the town of La Paragua, in the state of Bolívar, three days following the collapse that left at least 16 dead and 16 wounded, reported the operational strategic commander of the institution, Domingo Hernández Lárez.

On the first day, 384 people were evacuated, said the military chief in his account on the social network such as “deforestation and illegal mining.”

The collapse of the illegal mine took place on Tuesday and, as of this Friday, the toll is at least 16 people dead and 16 injured, according to official information.
The bodies of some of the victims were buried Thursday, while rescue efforts continued, authorities reported.

It should be noted that the Bulla Loca mine is located in an area that is difficult to access. To get to the place it is necessary to cross the La Paragua River, which can further complicate the arrival of aid teams, journalist Fritz Sánchez, an environmental specialist, told CNN this Friday.
