Venezuelan activist Rocío San Miguel and her relatives are presented in court

Caracas, February 12 (EFE).- The Venezuelan activist Rocío San Miguel, president of the NGO Citizen Control, arrested last Friday, is presented this Monday night before the Second Court once morest Terrorism, along with several of her relatives, as well deprived of liberty in the last hours, reported the attorney general, Tarek William Saab.

The four people identified by one of the human rights defender’s lawyers are Miranda Díaz San Miguel, daughter of the activist; Miguel Ángel and Alberto San Miguel, brothers; and Víctor Díaz Paruta, Miranda’s father.

Saab asserted that the Public Ministry (MP/Prosecutor’s Office) will request “a measure of preventive judicial deprivation of liberty once morest the citizen Rocío del Carmen San Miguel Sosa for the alleged commission of the crimes of treason, conspiracy, terrorism and association, among others”.

In addition, he indicated that he will also request the “preventive” deprivation of liberty for González Canales for the “alleged” commission of the crimes (of) revelation of political and military secrets concerning the security of the nation, obstruction of the administration of justice and association .

Likewise, it will request precautionary measures, “consisting of periodic presentations before the court of the case”, for the other four people.

The prosecutor assured that the six detainees appear “allegedly involved” in the conspiracy plot called ‘white bracelet’, whose objective was “to attack the life of the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, and other high officials,” and with which He had already linked San Miguel when he confirmed his arrest this Sunday.

He stressed that the actions are “within the legal limits” and “in strict compliance with respect for human rights,” despite the fact that the activist’s defense denounced the “forced disappearance” of San Miguel, whose whereregardings were unknown since the Friday, when she was detained at the Maiquetía international airport, which serves Caracas, until Sunday.

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) condemned this Monday the “forced disappearance” of San Miguel and recalled that the activist is a beneficiary of precautionary measures from the organization.
