Venezuela recognizes the work of the UN in support of Palestine refugees

The Alternate Ambassador of Venezuela to the UN, Joaquín Pérez Ayestarán, reported this Friday that Venezuela signed a declaration in support of the United Nations Public Works and Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

This was announced through his account on the social network X, in which he indicated that Venezuela signed the declaration “in correspondence with Venezuela’s firm support for the heroic Palestinian people.”

“In correspondence with Venezuela’s firm support for the heroic Palestinian people, we signed, together with 118 other countries, a declaration of commitments in support of the work of the Public Works and Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East,” it says. verbatim the publication of Pérez Ayestarán.

The signed document recognizes UNRWA’s role in providing life-saving assistance to Palestinian refugees through the provision of essential education, health, relief and social services and emergency assistance programs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Jordan, Lebanon and the Republic Syrian Arab.

Likewise, it highlights UNRWA as the backbone of the entire humanitarian response in Gaza, so no organization can replace or substitute it.

The signatory countries agree to increase the visibility of the agency’s important work in deliberations at the United Nations.

Furthermore, they express concern regarding the agency’s financial situation and recognize the efforts of donors and host countries to respond to the financial crisis.
