***The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed this Wednesday his support for the government of his Bolivian counterpart, Luis Arce, and the rejection of the attempted coup d’état***

The president spoke at the 10th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).

He said that the Bolivian people had asserted their right to democracy and highlighted the way in which President Arce confronted the coup plotters.

He added that it was a great tradition that had been bravely confronted and said that they support the final declaration of the bloc’s extraordinary summit.

Maduro also stressed that Venezuela supports “the safe path of ALBA and the battle we are waging, where Bolivia has given an example of honor and capacity to respond.”

Arce said in his speech that there is a disinformation campaign seeking to erode confidence in the legitimate and constitutional government through fake news.

On the other hand, he stressed that the right and conservative nationalism want to impose the matrix that it was not a coup, but a self-coup.

He stressed that it is “fundamental to recover the democratic values of the rule of law and reject the fundamentalisms and caudillismos that divide us.”

On June 26, a group of traitorous military personnel led by former general Juan Zúñiga attempted a coup d’état in Bolivia, but was thwarted within hours by the government and the mobilization of the people.
