For their part, supporters of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), supporters of the ruling party, remain on Libertador Avenue, near La Campiña, for the events of their candidate Nicolás Maduro.

The PSUV had several platforms in the city for their campaign events: on Urdaneta Avenue, specifically on the corner of Ánimas and at the height of the Llaguno bridge. In Catia there are three: at the height of El Rincón del Taxista, in front of the Alí Primera park and in Plaza Sucre.

On July 4, the SNTP demanded that the Venezuelan State and political actors guarantee journalistic coverage during the electoral campaign for the presidential elections on July 28.

“In light of the incidents documented in previous proceedings and the most recent cases of persecution, prosecution and attacks against journalists, the STNP urges both political actors and state institutions to guarantee plural, broad, timely and safe coverage for journalists and the media,” the union wrote in a statement.

Among the demands of the SNTP is the safety of journalists, which is why the institution also asked that the physical and professional integrity of journalists be protected during election coverage.

7. Alert raised for Etna volcano in Italy due to increased activity

Italy has raised the alert for Mount Etna, the most active volcano in Europe, on the southern island of Sicily, due to lava emissions and tremors and the risk that it could quickly enter into “more vigorous activity,” although for now it remains between low and medium, Civil Protection reported.

The Department “ordered the transition of the alert level from green to yellow” and urged its teams in Sicily to take “risk-management measures, especially in relation to the presence of hikers at high altitude,” it said in a statement reported by EFE.

The yellow alert level implies low to medium eruptive activity, which is higher than the green level, which implies no or very low eruptive activity. All of this is determined by the monitoring of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, which constantly analyses the existing danger assessments through the Etna Observatory.
