Venezuela leads banking in Latin America

The president of the Banking Association of Venezuela (ABV), Pedro Pacheco, stated that 84% of Venezuelans have at least one account in some financial institution, making the country as líder Latin American in banking.

“We are líder”It is in Latin America when it comes to inclusion, banking,” he asserted. In addition, he estimated that by the end of this year 70% of operations at points of sale can be done with contactless or contactless payment.

“It means making contact without using the point of sale to be able to pay. You take your cell phone, bring your card and that operation is executed, that is convenience for the client and more competitiveness,” he explained in a radio interview.

The financial expert explained that banking is advancing in technological areas in which it had lagged behind. In this sense, he stated that last month the Superintendency of Banking Sector Institutions (Sudeban) issued the standard to regulate the opening of a digital bank account, an electronic contract, biometrics, among other issues.

Likewise, he pointed out that the time will come, perhaps in 2025 or 2026, when citizens will take transportation and make the payment with their cell phone.

“In Venezuela, 99,1% of digital transactions exceed the in-person operation of going to an agency. The (transaction in) agency practically today means less than 1%,” he highlighted.
