Venezuela got its third Olympic diploma

On Monday, September 2, Emma Juaisca Rodríguez achieved the third Olympic diploma for Venezuela. The athlete obtained seventh place in the Paratriathlon discipline.

Athletes Leonela Vera, Linda Pérez and Alejandra Pérez advanced to the finals of the categories of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in paraathletics.

On Tuesday, September 3, the runners are expected to compete in the final and possibly win gold as they have done in past editions.

The third diploma for Venezuela at the 2024 Paralympic Games

In the debut of the paratriathlon discipline at these Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Venezuelan Emma Juaisca Rodríguez reached seventh place with a time of 1:26:08 in the PTS2 class.

This feat earned the Venezuelan parathlete her third Olympic diploma, according to the Venezuelan Paralympic Committee.

Venezuelan Yomaira Cohen obtained her second Paralympic diploma by finishing sixth with a distance of 10.67 metres in the women’s shot put F37 category, for athletes with moderately limited coordination and movement on one side of the body.

Venezuela’s first diploma was achieved on August 30 by Franyeli Vargas, who placed seventh in the women’s long jump class T11 (athletes with total visual impairment). She had a record of 4.18 meters in her last attempt on the track.

Venezuelans who will seek medals

In the final of the women’s 400-meter T12, runner Alejandra Pérez took second place with a time of 56.34, which secured her a place in the final of this discipline.

Perez was only surpassed by Iranian parathlete Hagar Safarzadeh Ghahderijani, who clocked a time of 56.07.

Linda Pérez took third place in the women’s 100 meters T11 with a time of 12.19, which placed her in third place and secured her spot in the final to be held on Tuesday, September 3.

Brazilian Jerusa Santos, with 11.80 and Chinese Liu Cuiqing, with 12.06, were in first and second place, respectively.

The Venezuelan runner will seek to repeat her feat at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where she won her gold medal.

Another Venezuelan runner who also managed to secure her place in the final was Leonela Vera in the 400-meter T20 Class.

According to the Venezuelan Paralympic Committee, Vera managed to complete her test in a time of 56.41.

Venezuela at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Venezuela currently occupies the 37th position in the medal table of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with a total of two medals: one gold and one silver.

On August 31st, Lisbeli Vera Vera took the silver medal after finishing second in the final of the 400-meter flat race in the T47 category with a time of 56.78. Vera was only surpassed by the Brazilian Fernanda Yara da Silva, who won the gold medal with a time of 56.74.

The gold arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, September 1st with Enderson SantosThe Creole parathlete reached first position in the final of the 400 meters flat in the T11 category with a time of 50.58.

It is a personal best for the 37-year-old, who earns his first Paralympic medal after being eliminated in Heat 1 at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
