Venezuela firmly rejected the new attempt to interfere by the United States government in its internal affairsby trying to establish a position in relation to different aspects of the future electoral process of 2024.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the robust participatory and protagonist democracy of Venezuela ‘neither requires nor accepts the tutelage’ of other nationsmuch less of indirect democratic systems and with various restrictions on participation, imposed by economic interests and a deep institutionalized racism.

It indicated that this discrimination registers every year the deprivation of the exercise of democratic rights of large segments of the Afro-descendant population.

It would be better for the United States to apply timely and fair corrections to its electoral system before issuing value judgments on the legitimate actions of the democratic institutions of other countries, he stressed.

The note emphasized that Washington ‘does not have morals or the right to comment on the political processes in our country’which has amply demonstrated that it is sovereign and independent, he added.

The interference of the Monroe Doctrine, as well as the blackmail and threats of illegal and unilateral coercive measures, have no effect on a people that has decided to be irrevocably free, the statement said.
