With the aim of strengthening relations between Venezuela and the Russian Federation, this Friday, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, held a meeting with the ambassador of that nation in the country, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasàrov.
“In the name of our president Nicolás Maduro, we have ratified to the Russian authority all our will to continue working from Caracas, the Creative City, for the growth of both towns,” reported Meléndez from the social network X.
Likewise, the mayor confirmed to the Russian ambassador her willingness to continue working for the growth of both towns through the Caracas, Creative City project.
It is worth mentioning that Caracas was officially recognized as a Creative City in the field of music, in November 2023, following the Mayor’s Office of the Venezuelan capital submitted a detailed report to UNESCO on the musical benefits of the city, highlighting how creative cultural dynamics have an important space within the city.
Bilateral ties
Since 1999, bilateral cooperation between Russia and Venezuela has deepened in the fields of energy, industry, commerce, transportation, agriculture, education, science, culture and defense, among other sectors.
Furthermore, in June 2024, Foreign Minister Yván Gil and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, signed a “Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Fight once morest Unilateral Coercive Measures”, imposed by the United States and its international partners.
