Venezuela and Nigeria signed two agreements for the exploration and exploitation of gas in the territorial and surface waters of the Gulf of Venezuela and the Deltana Platform.
The agreements, signed by the Ministry of Popular Power for Energy and Petroleum of Venezuela and the company Oranto Petroleum Limited of Nigeria, seek to develop projects in the areas of Barracuda, in the state of Zulia, and Boca de Serpiente, in Delta Amacuro.
Rafael Tellechea, Minister of Petroleum, and Prince Arthur Eze, director of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, were in charge of signing the agreements. The agreements will allow the certification of the gas fields in the Barracuda and Boca de Serpiente blocks. In total, they add up to 30 trillion cubic feet.
“We have faced many battles, but we knew we would win because the people are with you (Nicolás Maduro), because you have the strength of your people. Keep fighting as Chavez did, it is a battle for the good of your people. Africa is happy and knows a lot about Venezuela; we want to come here to invest.”said Prince Eze.

For his part, Tellechea stressed the importance of these agreements to position Venezuela among the main gas exporters worldwide.
“These are exploratory agreements to certify these two deposits, to continue positioning Venezuela as one of the gas exporting countries,” he said.
“I am very pleased that the investment process for gas production from the Gulf of Venezuela and the Deltana Platform is already accelerating. We will soon be exporting gas to Africa,” he said.
