Venezuela added four new diplomas

This Tuesday, September 3, athletes Leonela Vera, Linda Pérez, Alejandra Pérez and Luis Felipe Rodríguez won four Paralympic diplomas for Venezuela at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Sisters Linda and Alejandra Pérez finished in fourth place, after completing their respective paraathletics tests in class T11 and T12, respectively.

Leonela Vera, another Venezuelan parathlete who also competed in this same discipline, obtained fifth place in the T20 class.

Luis Felipe Rodríguez, meanwhile, finished sixth in the T20 class of the 400-meter dash, which gave the country its fourth Olympic diploma of the day.

Venezuela at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Venezuela currently occupies, together with Hungary, 44th place in the medal table of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with a total of two medals: one gold and one silver.

On August 31st, Lisbeli Vera Vera took the silver medal after finishing second in the final of the 400-meter flat race in the T47 category with a time of 56.78. Vera was only surpassed by the Brazilian Fernanda Yara da Silva, who won the gold medal with a time of 56.74.

The gold arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, September 1st with Enderson SantosThe Creole parathlete reached first position in the final of the 400 meters flat in the T11 category with a time of 50.58.

It is a personal best for the 37-year-old, who earns his first Paralympic medal after being eliminated in Heat 1 at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Venezuela’s seven Paralympic diplomas

So far, Venezuela has accumulated seven Olympic diplomas since the start of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on August 28. Four of these diplomas were obtained on Tuesday, September 3.

Paralympic athlete Linda Perez took fourth place in the T11 100-meter event with a time of 12.27.

Her sister, Alejandra Pérez, also finished in the same position, thanks to a time of 56.64 in the 400-meter T12 class final.

The Venezuelan Paralympic Committee reported that Leonela Vera finished fifth in the 400-meter T20 class event with a time of 57.18.

In the men’s 400-meter flat event, T20 class, Venezuelan Luis Felipe Rodríguez added a fourth diploma after finishing sixth with a time of 48.72 seconds.

On Monday, September 2, Emma Juaisca Rodríguez reached seventh place in paratriathlon, which earned the Venezuelan parathlete her third Olympic diploma.

Venezuelan Yomaira Cohen obtained her second Paralympic diploma by finishing sixth with a distance of 10.67 metres in the women’s shot put F37 category, for athletes with moderately limited coordination and movement on one side of the body.

Venezuela’s first diploma was won on August 30 by Franyeli Vargas, who placed seventh in the women’s long jump class T11 (athletes with total visual impairment). She had a record of 4.18 meters in her last attempt on the track.
