Venezuela activates epidemiological surveillance plan for monkeypox

This Monday, Venezuela reported the activation of an epidemiological surveillance plan for monkeypox, popularly known as monkeypox or Mpoxwhich was declared last week World Health Organization as a public health emergency of international concern.

This was stated in a statement by the Vice President of Communication, Tourism and Culture, Freddy Nañez.

According to the writing shared by the official, “Venezuela strengthens sanitary and epidemiological surveillance measures in ports and airports for travelers coming from affected countries”.

Among the measures adopted in this regard by Venezuela are: Monitoring at ports and airports of travelers from countries where the existence of cases related to the outbreak has been confirmed.

“To enter the country, they must report their health status and personal data in the epidemiological surveillance form for medical follow-up with the aim of early detection of any suspected case.”the statement said.

In case the country adds more people affected by monkeypox, it was noted that the tools and personnel are available for the “comprehensive and timely approach to this situation that guarantees the diagnosis, medical care, follow-up and monitoring required with the application of the recommendations issued by the WHO”.

It was also confirmed that Procedure for acquiring vaccines to strengthen the epidemiological fence in the territory.
