Venezuela activates all security agencies in the event of a tropical wave

The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos, stated this Monday that keeps activated all the country’s security agencies before a tropical wave that will affect the northeast coast between Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We have the entire risk management system activated, the authorities and the maritime authority for all forecasts for sailors (…) also for forecasts with Civil Protection and firefighters to attend to any emergency that is required,” Ceballos said in a video posted on the ministry’s Twitter account.

The president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), José Pereira, indicated in the same video that it is tropical wave number 11 that has a 90% chance of becoming a “tropical depression.”

“It maintains winds of 56 kilometers per hour, sustained wind (…) and can cause waves on the eastern coast of the country, so we are constantly monitoring the evolution from Inameh for the next few hours,” he added.

Pereira said that on Tuesday followingnoon or Wednesday it will be arriving in the eastern part of the island of Margarita, in the state of Nueva Esparta.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States monitors three systems in the Atlantic basin, one of which, located in the central tropical Atlantic, may become a cyclone in the coming days and affect the islands Barlovento and parts of Venezuela.

According to the NHC, a tropical wave has formed 900 miles (1,448 kilometers) east-southeast of the southern part of the Windward Islands (Grenada, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, among others) , which has a 70% chance of being a named storm in 48 hours and a 90% chance in 5 days.

According to the forecast, a tropical depression is likely to form over the next few days, before the system reaches the Windward Islands on Tuesday night or possibly as it moves west across the southern Caribbean Sea. from Wednesday to Friday.

The agency indicated that locally heavy rains are possible over the Windward Islands and the northeast coast of Venezuela on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
