Vehicular Accident Involving NYPD Officers in the Bronx Caught on Surveillance Camera

NEW YORK — Two New York Police officers were injured Monday night following a vehicular accident with their patrol car in the Bronx. The moment of the coke was captured by a surveillance camera.

The accident occurred in Brook Avenue y East 149th Street in Mott Haven and witnesses say the crash was deafening.

Surveillance video shows the moment the patrol car crashes into Brook Avenue once morest the van that was traveling on 149th Street. The images show that the New York Police officers were driving in the opposite direction.

“I always see them speeding up and I think ‘why do they need to speed up so fast?'” said Scott, one of the witnesses.

Police say the officers were responding to a call from other officers in need of assistance near 162nd Street and Forrest Avenue. It is not clear why those officers needed help.

But witnesses say the two policewomen in the patrol car appeared to be in pain, lying on the ground.

“It looked like she was hurt, she was probably hurt a lot,” a witness said.

The NYPD said the officers were in stable condition Monday night. The driver of the other car remained at the scene and no crime was involved.

Witnesses say the other driver also appeared injured, but the extent of the civilian’s injuries was unclear.
