Vatican City പാ Pope Francis has unveiled a revised Apostolic Constitution of the Curia, the Vatican’s governing body. The most important of the amendments was that any baptized Catholic, including a woman, might become head of the Vatican. It will be effective from June 5.
According to the old constitution of 1988, approved by Pope John Paul II, the head of department is the cardinal or bishop. A secretary, experts and administrators will assist. The preamble to the Constitution states that not only the pope, bishops and other ordained ministers, but also ordinary women and men must have a share in the administration and responsibility.
According to the amendment, the pope can decide and appoint any of the faithful to be the head of the Curia department or organization. In 2018, the pope revealed that a woman had been shortlisted for the post of head of the Vatican’s finance ministry, but that she might not enter the job for personal reasons.
Last year, Sister Raffaella Petrini was elected Governor of the Vatican City. Last year, Sister Alessandra Smerilli, an Italian nun, was appointed interim secretary of the Vatican’s Office for Development of Justice and Peace.
Condemned human trafficking
Pope Francis has condemned the war in Ukraine for its absurd human carnage and called for an end to the war. This is senseless murder and there is no justification for it. The pope called on the international community to take serious action to end this vicious war. Unfortunately, the violent attack on Ukraine is not over. The pope made the remarks following a traditional Angels prayer in front of thousands of believers on Sunday in St. Peter’s Square in Rome.
