Roxane Bruneau is the fifth coach of “La Voix”. She will recruit six candidates, chosen from among those who did not turn any chair at the Blind Auditions, who will then compete in “The Second Voice”, broadcast exclusively on TVA +.
The singer said she was surprised and above all very happy with this proposal. “When I was told it was a parallel competition on the web, it stuck with me so much, she said in an interview. That’s where I started, it’s like a return of things. In addition, I give a second chance to young people who went through the butter during the Blind Auditions.
She also wanted to do the same exercise as the coaches, that is to say that behind the scenes, she turns her back on the stage and chooses her candidates blindly. “I often wanted no coach to turn because there were voices I was hoping to get back.”
Atypical voices particularly appeal to him. “I went in search of voices that are out of the ordinary. My first foal, Ryan Guay, came to touch me because he was almost talking over the music at the start of his audition. It was like a slam. There are not many who try that and I liked it.
A friendly accompaniment
After only six years of career in music, she admits not having a lot of experience, even if she has enough advice to give to young people who want to get started. “I told them, from the start, that they will not have a coach like Lara Fabian who will be able to tell them that they have not reached B flat, she joked. I will allow them to discover their stage character, their artistic identity, to inhabit their bodies…»
From a vocal point of view, she especially wants to get them out of their comfort zone. “Those who sang in English, I will make them sing in French. What is important to me is the interpretation. I want them to understand what they’re singing, because if they don’t understand the lyrics, the people listening to them won’t understand either.”
Benevolent and friendly, Roxane also wants them to understand that the pleasure must be permanent in this exercise. “When I started, France Castel helped me behind the scenes at a festival to calm my stress. She took me by the shoulders saying to me: “no matter what you are going to do on stage, there is no one who is going to die. We are not surgeons, have fun”! I want to remove this pressure from my candidates, so that they also have a shell in the face of criticism. I want them to feel good, regardless of the context in which they will find themselves.
Roxane Bruneau sees “The Second Voice” as a great experience. “It will allow me to meet people and give advice that I have been given and that I still apply in my daily life.”
The episodes of “The Second Voice” will be available on February 12, February 26 and March 12 only on TVA+.
