The four arrested for the case of false medical certificates and over-prescription of drugs revealed by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces in Varda Ilias will be brought before the Investigator Amaliadas.

The defendant allegedly admitted during the preliminary investigation that he issued false medical certificates, with the investigation data confirming eight cases to date, however he seems to have admitted his involvement in more issuance of false certificates. Also, according to the same information, it emerged that the price for granting the certificates reached up to 50 euros per interested party.
Arrest with the “bag”
The investigation of the Internal Affairs Service, with the same doctor as accused, was extended to cases of over-prescription of medicines, where two medical visitors of a pharmaceutical company are presented as his accomplices and also accused. Regarding this part, he is accused of proceeding with the prescription of specific pharmaceutical preparations, receiving money for this purpose, while the medical visitors were also “winners”, as they in turn received a percentage of profit. According to EOPYY, the doctor, in the last year, had increased the prescription of pharmaceutical company preparations by 60%, having the highest rates of prescription of uninsured patients in the prefecture where he was active.
The arrests took place last Thursday, at the moment when the two medical visitors were going to give the accused doctor a sum of money for overprescribing their company’s pharmaceutical preparations, with his name written upside down on the envelope, allegedly so as not to be noticed.
