DETROIT (AP) — Fred VanVleet scored 17 points in the second half, including eight in a crucial stretch of the fourth quarter, and the Houston Rockets beat the Detroit Pistons 112-110 on Friday, condemning them to their seventh straight loss.
Detroit is 1-35 following starting the season with a 2-1 record. He already suffered a streak of 28 losses, which equaled the worst in NBA history.
The current skid began on New Year’s Day, with a 136-113 loss to the Rockets.
Jaden Ivey had a good chance to hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left, but the ball went in and out of the rim.
Alperen Sengun scored 29 points and Jalen Green added 28 for Houston, which has asked for two straight games. VanVleet finished with 20 points and 12 assists.
Alec Burks and Kevin Knox II each added 19 points for the Pistons, who played without leading scorers Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovic due to knee and calf injuries.
