Independent charity Vantage Foundation has announced a partnership with Backpack 4 VIC Kids (B4VK), a Victoria-based charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children. As part of its mission to build strong communities, the Vantage Foundation partnered with a local Australian company to host a successful fundraising event with enthusiastic support from employees.
The urgency of the B4VK mission cannot be overstated. In 2022, more than 61,000 Australian children will need care outside their parents’ home, including more than 14,000 in Victoria alone. Worryingly, 1 in 33 Australian children rely on child protection services, a 17 per cent increase from the previous year, with a significant increase of 24 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. %. These numbers clearly demonstrate that B4VK urgently needs further support and resources to fulfill its mission.
Founded in 2014, B4VK provides crisis and gift packages to children in need between birth and 17 years old, providing comfort and restoring dignity during times of crisis. B4VK founder Sally Beard shared a poignant story that reflects on the impact of her work: “Earlier, I spoke to a woman who distinctly remembered her tight grip as she was being escorted out of her home. Wearing a B4VK backpack. She confessed: “For me, this backpack is everything to me. This story reinforces our commitment to provide necessary support and material assistance to displaced children so that they feel safe and valued during difficult times.
