Canberra: Alan Joyce, the chief executive of Australian airline Qantas, has announced his resignation following being accused of selling tickets for canceled flights. Last week, Australian senators slammed Alan Joyce for delaying services and high fares. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has also announced that it will take legal action once morest the company.

The main allegation facing the company is that the tickets of regarding 8000 canceled flights were sold even following that. The commission also pointed out that the company delayed in withdrawing such tickets and informing the ticket holders regarding the cancellation of services. Due to this, the passengers found it very difficult to find an alternative route. Moreover, most of them had to pay exorbitant amounts to get tickets for another flight at the last minute.

Qantas has recently courted controversy, including offering premium airport lounge membership to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s son and opposing Qatar Airways allowing additional flights to Australia.
