Vandoorne gives Mercedes victory in Monaco and advances to the top of the standings

Mercedes’ Stoffel Vandoorne won the Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth race of the 2021-2022 Formula E season, ahead of championship rival Mitch Evans, while Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne finished third.

Jaguar Evans started from pole position, but problems with his car caused him to drop to third in the middle of the race, but he managed to advance to fourth at the end of the race. DS Techeetah driver Verne started third, but Vandoorne was able to overtake him by activating “attack mode”.

Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein, who started second behind Evans, often had power problems in his car, and retired from the race following being in pole position. This allowed Vandoorne to advance to the top of the race, which he did not lose until the end.

Driver Robin Frijns put his Envision team in fourth place, having been unable to overtake Verne to third in the last few laps, but he posted the fastest lap of the race. Fifth place went to the Portuguese Antonio Felix da Costa, as the Techeetah team driver started from the tenth position, to be able to collect valuable points in the end.

Team Venturi with Lucas di Grassi finished sixth, while Frien’s teammate Nick Cassidy finished seventh from afar following starting from 18th. Sebastien Buemi, Nissan e-dams driver, finished in 22nd place. Finish the race in eighth place.

Andretti driver Jake Dennis finished ninth. Mercedes driver Nick de Vries completed the top ten in the race.

This result made Vandoorne top the drivers’ standings with 85 points, 10 points ahead of Verne, who has 75 points. Evans is 3 points clear, with 72 points.

As for the teams’ standings, Mercedes leads with 120 points, ahead of DS Techeetah by 15 points, and Jaguar is third with 64 points.

The electric championship is now heading to the German capital, Berlin, in a double round on May 14 and 15.
