Vampires in Redfall aren’t sick, they’re just villains

AT Redfall – the new game of the Arkane Austin team, we have to deal with various vampires. But when meeting them, you should not think that they are victims of a terrible infection – these vampires deserve to be exterminated. After all, everything in the modern world is black and white.

In a recent panel at QuakeCon 2022, the developers explained that all of these vampires in the game were actually bad people in the past.

Vampires are in our game, and vampirism as such is not a disease, it’s not an accident – it’s not something that can be cured. The people who became vampires in Redfall were, in a sense, vampires on the inside. For them, this is more of a metamorphosis, and not a disease that they caught.

Arkane has previously explained the nature of vampirism in Redfall. Although they have the traditional characteristics of vampires, it all started as a group of incredibly wealthy individuals engaged in a technological quest for immortality or life extension.

These vampires got that way because they wanted to. They wanted to live forever at the expense of other people. Even at the cost of someone else’s blood. In fact, they voluntarily became monsters.

AT Redfall vampires are represented by different types – from the lowest to the most dangerous. Some of their named vampires will become mini-bosses, and above them the vampire gods are so powerful that they were able to push the water away from the island and capture the players in the city of Redfall.

In addition, there will be cultists – people who want to become vampires, but vampires have a separate plan for them. They can be modified by vampires to serve different purposes. Including, to act as a recharge – huge bubbles full of blood appear on the body of such, which vampires can feast on.

Release Redfall postponed from this year to 2023.
