Vamed: 7 locations will not be sold for the time being

The public sector is involved in all affected locations and has pre-emption rights that it could possibly use, according to a report by ORF Radio’s Ö1-Morgenjournal on Thursday. The sale for the remaining locations was fixed on Monday.

In addition to the two already known locations – the children’s cancer facility in Pongau in Salzburg and the Anton Proksch Institute – the Kapfenberg, Gmundnerberg, Enns and Eggenburg locations and the associated rehabilitation clinic in Gars am Kamp will also not be sold, said Vamed Group Works Council Chairman Harald Steer Ö1 on. The daily newspaper “Der Standard” had previously reported that seven clinics would not be sold, but did not name any specific locations.

Hope for alternative solutions

In Kapfenberg, the city is currently in negotiations with Vamed, Ö1 quotes Kapfenberg Mayor Matthäus Bachernegg. For him, it is conceivable that Kapfenberg will make use of his right of first refusal because the rehabilitation center is important for the city and there should be no deterioration for employees and patients. Steer also hopes for alternative solutions to a sale to the French and appealed to the federal government and municipalities to sit down at the table and find “good solutions”.
