A Valve launched the SteamVR 2.0 as its big update. In this sense, the update arrives 1 month after the announcement of the beta version for compatible devices. The company even talked a little about the new feature in a post published on Steam:

In this release, we’re bringing everything new and exciting about the Steam platform to VR. This is our first big step in a larger ongoing effort to better unify the Steam ecosystem for all users, providing a more consistent experience across all devices. This update also allows us to add new Steam features in the future much faster and more frequently

Another important detail is that the update took a long time to be released. In fact, Valve even said, in 2019, that it was “Working hard” in the new software version of Steam VR. Not only that, but the new feature was launched without being accompanied by a new hardware product focused on VR.

Currently, there are rumors that talk about the possibility of the company developing virtual reality glasses, but the details regarding the item are not yet known. A product even passed radio certification in South Korea, something that indicates the announcement of a new device soon.

There is also talk about developing a product codenamed “Deckard”, which would be an independent VR headset, a possible rival for Meta’s models. However, no details about these matters were revealed. Regarding SteamVR 2.0, check out some of the new implementations in the system:

Most current Steam and Steam Deck features are now part of SteamVR

Updated keyboard with support for dual-cursor typing, new languages, emojis, and themes

Steam chat and voice chat integration

Improved store that puts new and popular VR releases in the spotlight

Easy access to Steam notifications
