The debut of the Yucatan National Team in the National League Tournament of the 11-year-old Category had a spectacular ending.
Double by Íker Ceballos Méndez, producer of two runs, being one out from finishing the game, allowed the Yucatecans to turn the score around and beat the Navojoa team, at the start of the competition for 11-year-old players in various fields of Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Playing in the “group of death”, Yucatán went with everything. On the mound they had Fernando Hernández leaving Navojoa with three hits in the first five innings. Great work by the peninsular opener.
However, the Mayos turned the score around with four runs in the sixth, placing themselves one trickle away from victory.
But the Yucatecans did not sleep and achieved an emotional reaction to win. In his last turn, with one out, José Ángel Sotelo walked and Emiliano Bojórquez followed with a double. After the second out, it was Ceballos Bojórquez’s turn, who, with a 2-1 count, hit the ball into the center wall for a golden double, driving in both runs.—Gaspar Silveira Malaver
