Valérie Pécresse relaunches her call for donations: “Democracy has a cost”

The ex-candidate LR congratulated the president on his re-election. However, she invites him to “not be mistaken” regarding his success, recalling that for many French people it was a default vote. “This disillusioned vote and the power of the extremes constitute a great risk for France“, warned Valérie Pécresse. “We must not leave our democracy locked in this duel which can be explosive between power and the extremes”she continues, calling on the French on the right not to be divided during the legislative elections.

Valérie Pécresse then took stock of the call for donations to repay his campaign, “a financial emergency”. As a reminder, the ex-candidate’s campaign costs will not be reimbursed because of her too low score in the first round. Personally indebted to the tune of 5 million euros following her candidacy, Valérie Pécresse therefore launched an appeal for donations. “Yes democracy has a cost, but believe me, this cost is lower than the absence of pluralism and confrontation of ideas”assured the Republican, thanking the French who participated.

This call allowed us to receive 2 million euros, but we are still far from the end. This is why I am relaunching my appeal for donations., she announced. Valérie Pécresse said she was addressing all the French people who had supported her, but also those who shared her ideas but had chosen to block the far right. She assured to be very touched by the messages of sympathy received following the first round.
