The facts are of great magnitude and serious. For six months, at the beginning of 2020, a 54-year-old man stashed spy cameras in several public toilets in Haut-Valais. It raged in the toilets of the Bettmeralp cable car, in a restaurant in Visp, in the toilets of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn and the CFF as well as in three other toilets that the police have not yet been able to determine.
According to the penal order of the Public Prosecutor of Haut-Valais, revealed by the “Walliser Bote”, the fifty-year-old consumed pornographic films of a zoophilic and pedophile nature for years before committing his offenses in public toilets. To investigators, he said that at some point, these videos no longer exhilarated him and he found, with hidden cameras, a way to outdo himself sexually. He confessed to having placed the spy devices at least 30 or 40 times in public toilets. He hid these cameras at sink height or in fire detectors.
Legal past
To investigators, he said he felt sexual urges with minors and young women. According to the penal order, 379 films and photos of different women were seized from the voyeur.
The man has already been convicted of a traffic offence. The criminal authorities took this into account in their judgment. The defendant was found guilty of multiple violations in the private and secret domains with recording devices, theft, multiple home invasions and pornography. He was fined 165 day-fines at 80 francs, with a probationary period of two years. He will also have to pay a fine of 600 francs, legal fees of 950 francs as well as procedural costs for an amount of 1500 francs. All confiscated films and photos were destroyed by the police. As the convict did not appeal, the judgment entered into force in mid-February 2022.
