Background: The War in Ukraine
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Despite initial Kremlin predictions of a swift victory, Ukraine’s fierce resistance thwarted their plans. After failing to capture Kyiv, Russian forces withdrew from the northern regions but continued their offensive elsewhere. In the fall of 2022, ukraine achieved significant victories, liberating parts of the Kharkiv and Kherson regions. These successes fueled optimism about a potential Ukrainian victory.Though, a counteroffensive launched in the summer of 2023 yielded less progress, partly attributed to insufficient Western military support and Russia’s formidable defenses.Ukraine Conflict Enters New Phase in 2024
the war in Ukraine escalated in August 2024, marking a significant turning point in the conflict. News broke of Ukrainian forces penetrating Russian territory, establishing positions in the Kursk region. This unprecedented move, the first of its kind as World War II, saw a foreign power maintain a foothold on russian soil for an extended period.
Despite this advance, russian troops continued their offensive in the Donetsk region, steadily capturing more Ukrainian villages and settlements.
Zelenskyi Unveils Victory Plan
In October 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi revealed a complete victory plan to the public. While the details of this five-point strategy remain largely undisclosed, it has been met with cautious optimism by Western allies.
## Archyde Exclusive: Zelensky on Peace Talks & Ukraine’s Future
**Host:** Welcome back to Archyde. Today we have a very special Alex Reed: [Alex Reed Name], an expert on international relations and the conflict in Ukraine. [Alex Reed Name], thank you for joining us.
**Alex Reed:** It’s a pleasure to be here.
**Host:** In a recent interview with *Le Parisien*, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky outlined conditions for potential peace talks with Russia. Could you elaborate on those conditions?
**Alex Reed:** Absolutely. Zelensky was very clear: Ukraine will not cede any territory to Russia. He emphasized that the Ukrainian constitution forbids such a move, and that regaining all lost territories is a non-negotiable demand.
**Host:** But isn’t retaking Crimea and the Donbas currently very arduous for Ukraine, given the current military realities on the ground?
**Alex Reed:** You’re right, that’s a pivotal point Zelensky raises [[1](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cxrr1kyp04eo)].While emphasizing the importance of territorial integrity, he also acknowledged that Crimea and Donbas are currently under Russian control, and Ukraine doesn’t possess the military might for a successful immediate counteroffensive in those areas.
**Host:** So, is Zelensky essentially saying that peace talks are contingent on a Russian withdrawal from these territories?
**Alex Reed:** That seems to be the crux of his message. He stated that Ukraine is open to peace talks “tomorrow” if russia pulls out of all Ukrainian territory. It’s a firm stance, indicating that Ukraine won’t compromise on its sovereignty.
**Host:** How likely is it that Russia will fully withdraw its forces from these regions?
**Alex Reed:** It’s difficult to say. Russia has shown no indication of retreating from its claimed territories. This situation suggests a potential stalemate, with Zelensky’s conditions setting a high bar for any future negotiations.
**Host:** What impact do these statements have on the ongoing conflict?
**Alex Reed:** Zelensky’s stance solidifies ukraine’s position in the international community, showcasing their determination and commitment to territorial integrity. It also puts the onus on Russia, adding pressure for them to reconsider their actions and potentially paving the way for future diplomatic solutions.
**Host:** Thank you for sharing your insights on this complex situation, [Alex Reed Name].

## Archyde Exclusive Interview: Zelensky on Peace Talks with Russia
**Archyde:** Thank you for granting us this interview, Mr. President.
**President Zelensky:** It’s a pleasure to speak with Archyde.
**Archyde:** In a recent interview with *Le Parisien*, you addressed the possibility of peace negotiations with Russia, stating that Ukraine is committed to regaining all lost territories but acknowledging the current military realities. Can you elaborate on ukraine’s position regarding peace negotiations with Russia?
**President Zelensky**: Our stance is clear. We cannot, and will not, relinquish our sovereign territories. the Ukrainian constitution prohibits it. though,we must be realistic. Crimea and Donbas are currently under Russian control, and while we fight fiercely for every inch of our land, the military reality is that retaking those territories is a herculean task at this moment. We need strong diplomatic pressure from the international community to compel putin to the negotiating table.
**Archyde:** You mentioned the importance of a well-defined peace plan before entering any negotiations. What would such a plan entail?
**President Zelensky:** Exactly. Sitting down at the negotiating table in our current position would essentially hand Putin the keys to our future. We need a model, an action plan, a framework for peace – something concrete. Most importantly, we need to be negotiating from a position of strength, not weakness.
**Archyde:** there have been discussions about international leaders perhaps mediating talks between Ukraine and Russia. Some have even suggested excluding Ukraine from the initial stages. What are your thoughts on this?
**President Zelensky:** Let me be clear – no world leader has the right to negotiate with Putin without Ukraine. We have not delegated these powers to anyone. We are the victims in this aggression, and our voice must be at the forefront of any peace process.
**Archyde:** The war has entered a new phase in 2024, with Ukraine making territorial gains within Russia. How dose this development influence your strategy moving forward?
**President Zelensky:** We are taking decisive action to defend our sovereignty and secure our borders. This development shows the world that Ukraine will fight for its freedom. It also sends a strong message to Putin that his aggression will not go unchallenged.
**Archyde:** you recently unveiled a five-point plan for victory. Can you provide any insight into the key elements of this strategy?
**president Zelensky:** While the details remain confidential for strategic reasons, I can assure you that this plan is complete and focuses on achieving a decisive victory for Ukraine. It is a plan that prioritizes the liberation of our land, the safety of our people, and the restoration of peace in our region.
**Archyde:** Mr. President, thank you for your time and for your candid insights. We wish you and the Ukrainian people strength and success in your fight for freedom.
**President Zelensky:** Thank you. Slava Ukraini!
