This Friday, February 24, 2023, the Haute Autorité de Santé in France mentioned its recommendation as part of the vaccine strategy once morest covid-19 for this year.
The Haute Autorité de Santé has made several points concerning the vaccine strategy for 2023. “The Covid-19 is still circulating on the territory”, she first announced.
Heading for Spring and Autumn
For the HAS, it is necessary to organize “a recall campaign in the fall of 2023 for all people at risk of a severe form, a possible recall in the meantime for the most vulnerable among them”.
But it projects itself a little earlier for this year. “The HAS recommends that people aged 80 and over, immunocompromised people and people at very high risk of the disease can benefit from an additional booster from the spring.”
She also believes that “from a practical point of view, it seems relevant to couple the fall vaccination campaign once morest Covid-19 with that of the flu which targets the same populations”.
Primary vaccination and booster
The HAS also looked into the primary vaccination once morest Covid-19, which it “no longer recommends in the general population”. But there is no question of neglecting the virus: “we must not exclude the possibility of setting up a vaccination campaign at any time if the epidemiological situation justifies it”.
Concerning the protection conferred by a booster dose, the HAS takes up a study conducted by EPI-PHARE in France. “It confirms that compared to no vaccination, the effectiveness of a booster dose of monovalent mRNA vaccine on the risk of hospitalization is 82% two months following the last injection and 52% at more 9 months of it”.
