Vaccination recommendation in case of travel to a country with a measles epidemic
Infants aged 6 to 11 months: One dose of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, according to a compassionate prescription framework that replaces the RTU procedure, for children aged 6 to 8 months old who must travel to a high endemicity area, then 2 doses of MMR vaccine following the recommendations of the vaccination schedule in force (1 dose at the age of 12 months, then a dose between 16 and 18 months).
Children from 12 months: A 1st dose of MMR vaccine at 12 months of age and a 2nd dose between 16 and 18 months; this 2nd dose can be administered more quickly when travelling, respecting a minimum period of one month between the 2 doses.
People born following 1980 and older than 12 months: Two doses in total of MMR vaccine regardless of immunization history for rubella and mumps and regardless of history for the three diseases. Persons previously vaccinated with 2 doses and whose first dose was administered before the age of 12 months should receive a 3rd dose.
People born before 1980: In the context of travel to an endemic country, it is recommended that people not protected once morest measles (no known history of measles or not previously vaccinated) receive a dose of MMR vaccine before departure.
