The Government of Mexico City will start with the vaccination of children under 12 years of age from now on next Thursday, May 19, reported the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

It will be next Monday, May 14, when the locations and times of the vaccination day for girls and boys residing in the Mexican capital will be announced.

So far, vaccination of minors already started in some municipalities of the State of Mexico, Chiapas, Puebla and Nuevo León.

Vaccination of minors more than two years following the start of the pandemic by COVID-19 in the country, because prior to the start of these days only children who had some comorbidity were vaccinated.

Minors were the last population group to receive the virus vaccine, because from the beginning of the pandemic, national and international health authorities indicated that the disease went almost unnoticed in them.

It was last April 26 when Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, reported on the start of the registry of minors to be vaccinated.
